Our Philosophy
Mobility and exercise are important for our residents because they allow them to maintain independence and participate in basic activities of daily living.
Mobility also helps with balance, coordination, and concentration, which can improve one’s quality of life. Those who have regular activity report improved mental health, heart health, resistance to injury, and better confidence.
Our Team
Our rehab team at Pine Grove is dedicated to helping residents maintain mobility and independence with compassion and care. Our Enhanced Rehab Coordinator, leads tailored programs, while our experienced rehab nurse, works directly with residents using equipment like personal chairs and mobility aids. Together, they provide hands-on support that helps residents feel safe, confident, and cared for.
Rehabilitation Services
Maintaining Mobility
Our rehabilitation services are designed to help residents rebuild confidence in their movement while reducing the risk of falls and injuries.
Walking Programs: These guided sessions focus on improving balance, coordination, and gait, helping residents walk with greater ease and stability.
Balance and Fall Prevention Training: Residents learn exercises and techniques to improve reaction time and body control, enhancing their overall stability in daily life.
Building Strength
Our strength and flexibility programs are customized to each resident’s abilities and physical goals.
Strength Training: Residents participate in exercises that build muscle tone, endurance, and functional strength, allowing them to stay active and manage daily tasks with confidence.
Flexibility and Range of Motion Exercises: These targeted movements reduce stiffness, improve joint health, and help prevent contractures, ensuring residents maintain comfortable mobility.
Maximizing Independence
Our rehabilitation services focus on daily living activities, giving residents the tools they need to preserve their autonomy.
Specialized Equipment: You’ll have access to equipment like transfer chairs, custom seating solutions, and mobility aids to help you move safely and comfortably.
Access to Walking Trails: There are paved walkways around the home for residents to use when they can.
Resident Testimonials

“I can really move my arms now. I can’t believe it, I can really move them now.”
“I’ve noticed a big difference since I’ve started cycling. I am able to move myself in my chair much easier now.”
“Oh, I know I’m doing better than when I first got here. I’m not as tired after my walks, and I walk further!”
“We’ve loved having our rehabilitation nurses here. All of the residents have been doing so much better since they’ve started working with them.”

Family Matters
When families actively participate in the rehabilitation journey, residents feel more motivated and supported, knowing they have a strong network behind them.
For example, a resident recovering from a hip fracture may practice walking exercises at Pine Grove while family members learn how to assist during visits. This shared effort helps the resident regain strength faster, builds confidence, and ensures progress continues beyond the facility.
We invite families to join therapy sessions, stay informed on progress, and be an active part of their loved one’s care plan.
Innovative Care
Pine Grove Nursing Home participated in a provincial study that helped reduce antipsychotic use in seniors with dementia, improving quality of life. Over 52% of participants reduced or stopped medication, opting for alternative therapies like exercise, music, and pet therapy. This led to fewer falls, reduced infections, and improved independence, positioning New Brunswick as a leader in innovative senior care.
